Cobham SIGINT Products Is Now iRF Solutions

August 9, 2013

Good News for Hunt Valley SIGINT Inc. Customers

Cobham CES and intelligent RF Solutions (iRF) architect a business continuation strategy for the Hunt Valley operation.

The Transaction

Earlier in 2013, Hunt Valley SIGINT Inc. was scheduled for immediate closure. In response to customer outcry, Cobham CES invited proposals for a business continuation strategy for the Hunt Valley Operation. The iRF proposal represented the best win-win solution for Cobham, Hunt Valley employees, and Hunt Valley customers. The asset sale, which was completed on June 14, 2013, ensures availability of all mission critical, single source, Hunt Valley products that support the Global Defense and Intelligence Mission. As part of the transaction iRF is supporting all warranty and post warranty repairs. We sincerely thank the many customers who actively supported this transaction!

The Team

The iRF team includes many familiar names and faces. Geoff Timmer leads the team, which includes the current Hunt Valley team and a well-backed financial investor team including Jeff Sanders (ex-President, CEO of Eclipse Electronics Systems, now an Esterline Company) who joins iRF as Chairman of the Board. Geoff worked in Hunt Valley (then an Addams Russell/MA-COM company) in the late 1980s prior to becoming President of APCOM Inc., cofounder of Celerity Systems and Acceleration Systems, which were acquired by L3 Communication in 1998. Most recently he was Vice President of Business Development of Mercury Computer Systems, Microwave and Digital Solutions Group. “I’m proud to be back leading the Hunt Valley team. I am personally committed to returning the organization to a customer focused, responsive partner”.

Marty Cunningham (previously of Tyco, Hunt Valley, and most recently DRS) is leading iRF’s sales and marketing efforts.  John Neubert leads the day-to-day operations as VP/GM and is joined by Jim Dorsey as CTO, RF Architect, and Alicia Fowler, International Trade Compliance.

The Plan

Effective immediately iRF is receiving contracts for products and support. We are reengaging with all Hunt Valley customers and renewing our manufacturer’s representative agreements. iRF will remain in the Hunt Valley facility until September 30th, 2013 to ensure a seamless move to a new facility in the Hunt Valley area. As part of the asset purchase we have acquired all Hunt Valley test equipment, Intellectual Property for all Hunt Valley products, as well as the complete inventory. We are registered with SAM.GOV and the NSA ARC, and have reapplied for all required export licenses to support our international customer base.

Moving Ahead

We apologize on behalf of Cobham for the uncertainty, confusion, and disruption the facility closure announcement created. We at iRF look forward to your support as we rapidly evolve into an organization you will be proud to call a partner!
